This painting was inspired by an art competition. While creating it, I felt as though I was in a moment of waiting—hoping for the opportunity to move forward as an artist, dreaming and anticipating winning.

The boat is a symbol of where I was and where I want to go. Its swirling reflection captures the excitement, uncertainty, self-doubt and hope that often accompanies my creative journey.

The title, inspired by the familiar fairy tale, “Mirror,mirror on the wall…”, reflects the uncertainty that many artists wonder, including myself—especially during competitions: Will my work reflect well in the art world? Will I rise to be at the top?

In a recent competition, I did. And it’s utterly exhilarating!
